I am a Colorado based, independent-selling abstract artist. I was born in Detroit, MI and raised in Cleveland, OH amongst a family full of artists. I began painting as a form of anxiety therapy in my twenties and, within the next year, my business began organically growing. Soon after, I studied Visual Art with an emphasis in Painting at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design, however, I still consider myself largely self taught. I am grateful that my art has been widely collected throughout the United States, shown in galleries in Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, and Ohio, and featured in the LA Times.

From the time I was very young, I have associated people, places, and emotions with colors. It was not until I got older that I learned this has a name: Synesthesia. I am fascinated by colors and their relationships with each other and our minds. My work is heavily influenced by Joan Mitchell, Mary Abbott, Perle Fine, and other female icons of Abstract Expressionism.

My philosophy on art is that it is profoundly healing and should be accessible to everyone who needs or wants it. Because of that, I have always tried to create art with a purpose and I have gravitated towards making paintings for people who are on a journey (large or small). I currently serve as an Advisory Board member for the nonprofit organization, Twist Out Cancer, and donate my art and time to their annual event, Brushes With Cancer. Twist Out Cancer has created a community devoted to helping others heal from the trauma of being touched by cancer through creative arts programming. I believe that art has the power to change lives and I am blessed to witness it time and time again through Twist Out Cancer.

Art is immensely personal. I involve my clients in the artistic process to help create unique, individualized pieces. If you are interested in a custom painting, fill out the contact form or send me a private message on Instagram @annafeneisart.
